A Call for Change: The Sit-In at Benoni Bunny Park

In the sweeping green sanctuary that is the Benoni Bunny Park, a group is taking a stand for the well-being of its furry inhabitants. As the sun sets on these timeworn grounds, the echoes of a peaceful demonstration fill the air. This isn’t just any gathering—it’s a determined sit-in carried out by the Bunny Park Animals 911 Group and the proactive Ban Animal Trading (BAT) members, who are steadfast in their resolution for transformative change.

A Camp of Conviction

On the evening of May 13, over 15 determined souls stationed themselves just inside the park’s threshold, a testament to their commitment. Spearheaded by Tania Forrest-Smith from the Bunny Park Animals 911 Group, they announced an unwavering statement: they will not move until the gentle persuasion of the police encourages otherwise.

The Guardians and Their Demand

While the vigilant sentinels of the law were present, their attention was transient, and the stand-in continues. BAT and Bunny Park Animals 911 are united with a singular, pressing plea: to close the park until the calls for improving the abode of the animals housed within are heeded and enacted.

The Stage is Set for Awareness

The air of determination is not confined to a single evening. These zealous protectors have scheduled a public protest to voice their concerns louder and clearer, prompting a wave of change. On May 14, from the first light of dawn at 9 a.m. until the late morning’s end at 11 a.m., the park will serve as a stage for advocacy.

The Beacon of Hope

The Bunny Park, beloved for its serene picnic spots and endearing animal friends, now faces a watershed moment. It is a juncture that calls for action and empathy from every individual who holds the park’s legacy dear. It’s an appeal from the watchful eyes at the Bunny Park Animals 911 and BAT—a beacon of hope for the voiceless.

The heart of this movement is tethered to a vision: a reimagined sanctuary where every hop and whisker twitch is met with joy, not sorrow. Where every visitor leaves with a smile, knowing that they’ve witnessed a hideaway that truly cherishes its feathery and furry denizens.
